Shipping & Unpacking
Free standard shipping on every order, with no minimum spend. This page covers how your bulbs are packed, when they ship and what to do if something arrives wrong.
Shipping cost
Standard shipping is free on all orders. There is no minimum order value, no small-order fee and no handling charge added at checkout. The price you see on the product page is the price you pay.
When your order ships
Orders are packed in the sequence they arrive, normally within a few business days. Seasonal items are the exception: spring-flowering bulbs ordered in summer are held and released when the planting window opens for your region, usually from late September onward. If your order contains both in-stock and seasonal items, we may ship them separately at no extra cost — you will receive a tracking number for each parcel.
Delivery window
Allow 5–12 business days after dispatch for standard delivery. Peak bulb season (October and November) and severe weather can add a few days. Tracking is emailed automatically when the label is created; if it has not updated for 10 days, email us and we will chase the carrier.
How bulbs are packed
Dormant bulbs travel best cool, dry and able to breathe. We use ventilated bags inside a rigid carton, with paper padding instead of sealed plastic, and we label each bag with the variety and grade so nothing gets mixed up at planting time. Live-rooted items are wrapped in slightly damp material to protect the roots in transit.
Unpacking your order
- Open the carton as soon as it arrives; do not leave it in a hot porch or garage for days.
- Check each bag against the packing slip and count the bulbs.
- Look for the variety label and the planting note included with each item.
- Plant within a few days if conditions allow. If not, keep bulbs cool, dark and ventilated — see our FAQ for storage temperatures.
- Photograph anything that looks wrong before you plant it; that photo is all we need for a claim.
What counts as normal
A little blue-green mould on the papery skin, a few loose skins, a slightly soft outer layer or an early shoot is normal for dormant bulbs and does not affect flowering. Wipe the mould off and plant as usual. A bulb that is soft all the way through, smells sour or collapses when pressed is not normal — photograph it and email us.
Addresses and delivery issues
Check the shipping address before you pay. We can amend it until the parcel is packed; after that it is locked into the carrier’s label. If a parcel is returned to us as undeliverable, we will contact you to arrange reshipment at cost. If tracking shows delivery but nothing arrived, check with neighbours and your local depot first, then email us — we will open a trace.
Guarantee
Shipping does not affect your cover: every order carries our 60-day guarantee. Questions before you order? Email plantbulbshop@gmail.com.
